Home Insurance is insurance for you, your family and your household contents. We recommend Home Insurance for everyone who runs a household, both individuals and families, because it can be a major financial setback if your household contents are damaged.
Accident Insurance in Leisure Time also includes important protection for you and your family. You can tailor the home insurance to your needs based on your lifestyle and hobbies, family size and housing.
Home Insurance is a combined insurance policy that you can tailor to your needs, thereby influencing the price.

The deductible is the amount you pay if damage occurs.
Choose between ISK 35,000, 65,000, or 95,000 as your deductible* and influence the cost of your Home Insurance. The price can be reduced by up to 20% if you choose a higher deductible.

The insurance applies to travel abroad for up to 92 consecutive days and covers the family for various expenses that may arise due to accidents or illness during travel.

You must ensure that all the information on the insurance policy is accurate.
You must inform us of any changes to your home address, phone number, and email address.
You are required to follow the precautions in the insurance policy terms, such as making sure that doors, windows, and other openings into the insured area are securely locked and the keys stored in such a way that unauthorized individuals can not access them.
The premium must be paid on the due date. When the insurance policy is issued or renewed an electronic claim is created in your online bank. You have the option to distribute the premium payments by:
Credit card payment, where the premium is charged monthly to a credit or debit card.
Direct payment, where your bank account is debited monthly.
The insurance policy takes effect when an offer is accepted and is renewed annually until it is canceled.
Individuals and companies with fewer than five full-time positions may cancel their insurance at any time and it will expire at the end of the following month after the cancellation is received. Other companies can cancel their insurance one month in advance before the end of the insurance period.
The cancellation must be in writing, for example with an electronic signature.

Household contents consist of items that people usually purchase one by one, which is why many people are not aware of their total value. It is important that the insured value of household contents reflects their true value as accurately as possible, because in the event of a serious loss you may find yourself needing to replace all your contents at once. It is best to review your household contents room by room and add up the cost of the items in each room. This way, you can reduce the likelihood of underestimating the value of your household contents.
Yes, it is necessary to do so regularly. We often acquire more and more valuable items over the years, for example when the household grows, when we move to a larger home, or when we receive valuable gifts. Later in life, when people downsize, there may again be reason to review the value of household contents.
If you want to change the value of your household contents in your Home Insurance, please contact us by phone at 440 2000, via online chat, or by email at sjova@sjova.is.
Valuable items should always be insured separately. This applies, for example, to expensive leisure equipment such as bicycles, golf equipment, and cameras, as well as valuable paintings and jewelry. This is because Home Insurance covers certain items only up to a specified limit, such as bicycles, watches, and jewelry.
If you own valuable items that are regularly stored outside the home, they also need to be insured separately. Items such as paintings, computers, cameras, audio equipment, televisions, and similar belongings are, for example, not covered for burglary or vandalism if they are stored in external storage units, garages, or cars.
You can always contact us to insure these items by calling 440 2000, reaching out via online chat, or sending an email to sjova@sjova.is.
