Community Support Initiatives

Sjóvá takes an active part in the community and contributes to projects that have a positive and lasting impact. Emphasis is placed on projects related to prevention, health and physical activity, as well as public participation in community initiatives.

Applications are accepted year-round, but allocations are made three times a year. Application deadlines are March 31, August 31, and November 30.

It is also possible to submit a general sponsorship application in the form of a sponsorship line or logo display.

Community Support Initiatives

Allocation Rules

A maximum of ISK 12 million is allocated annually, distributed in three disbursements. Individual grants generally range from ISK 100,000 to ISK 500,000 and never exceed ISK 1 million.

Grants are intended to support projects with broad social relevance, with special emphasis on initiatives that have a positive impact in Sjóvá’s local communities.

Grants are awarded to individuals, groups, non-profit foundations, and voluntary organizations that are not operated for profit. The support is provided for specific projects and events, and does not cover operating costs.

What types of projects are eligible for grants?

Emphasis is placed on projects related to:

  • prevention and youth work
  • health and physical activity
  • arts, culture, and education
  • sustainability and social responsibility


What generally falls outside the scope of the grant?

Support is not provided for:

  • educational scholarships
  • travel abroad
  • general publications, such as books, music albums, or films
  • research and scientific projects
