You have received an email from us informing you that we will compensate the damage to your vehicle under the comprehensive collision insurance.
Below are the next steps, answers to frequently asked questions, and the options available to you while your vehicle is under repair. We kindly ask you to review the following information carefully.
Visit a workshop to have the damage assessed. You can find a list of approved workshops here.
The workshop will send a repair estimate to Sjóvá for approval.
Once the approval is granted, the workshop will schedule a repair appointment for you. All scheduling is managed by the workshop.
It is important that Sjóvá approves the vehicle repair estimate before the repair begins to ensure that Sjóvá covers the repair costs.
If the vehicle was towed from the scene as undrivable, a Sjóvá damage assessor will inspect the vehicle at the earliest opportunity and contact you regarding the next steps. If you have not heard from us within two working days, please contact the vehicle claims department at 440-2060.
When the repair is completed, you will receive an invoice from us for your deductible. If your premiums are paid in installments, the deductible will also be spread in the same manner, and no further action is required on your part.

Please note that if the damage to the vehicle is extensive and Sjóvá purchases the vehicle, any outstanding premiums for the comprehensive collision insurance must be settled. This is because the insurance is being fully utilized. The outstanding premiums will be deducted from the purchase price of the vehicle, which may result in a lower payment being deposited into your bank account than the agreed purchase price.
You are entitled to a rental car while the vehicle is being repaired, for up to 7 days. Please contact us at 440-2060 or send an email to okutjon@sjova.is, and we will arrange a car for you.
If a comparable rental car cannot be provided, we can offer compensation for loss of use amounting to ISK 10,000 per day, for up to 7 days.
