You have received an email from us regarding a collision, and as we believe you are in the right, we ask you to review the following information carefully.
Here you can see the next steps, answers to frequently asked questions, and the options we offer while your vehicle is being repaired.
It is important that Sjóvá has approved the repair assessment of the vehicle before it is taken to the workshop to ensure that Sjóvá covers the repair costs.
If the vehicle was transported undrivable from the scene, a Sjóvá damage assessor will inspect the vehicle at the earliest opportunity and contact you regarding the next steps. If you have not heard from us within two working days, please contact the vehicle claims department at 440-2060.
Individuals (owners/managers) who suffer damage can choose between two options, rental car or loss of use while the vehicle is under repair. However, companies generally do not have this right for their vehicles. In all cases, a standard repair time of approximately 5–10 days applies. Note that sometimes it may be necessary to wait for spare parts before starting or continuing the repair, and the repair time is not expected to exceed 30 days. Please contact our damage assessors at 440-2060 or at okutjon@sjova.is if the repair process is expected to take longer.
We pay you ISK 5,500 for each day the vehicle is in repair. If you choose this option, please contact us at or by phone at 440-2060 once you have picked up the vehicle after repair. After the repair is completed, we can calculate the amount and deposit it into your bank account accordingly.
Here you can find a list of car rental companies in partnership with Sjóvá. You can contact a rental company directly from this list and reserve a car. In some cases, the workshop performing the repair may arrange a car for you. Sjóvá covers the cost of a rental car in category A. Please note that when collecting a rental car, a credit card must be presented.
