You have received an email from us stating that we will compensate the damage to your vehicle from the Comprehensive Collision Insurance.
Here you can see the next steps, answers to common questions, and the options we offer while your vehicle is being repaired. We kindly ask you to review the following information carefully.
If the vehicle was towed from the scene because it was non-drivable, a Sjóvá damage assessor will inspect the vehicle at the earliest opportunity and contact you regarding next steps. If you have not heard from us within two working days, please contact Vehicle Claims at 440-2060.
While the vehicle is being repaired, or for a maximum of 7 days, you have two options available.
It is important that Sjóvá has approved the repair assessment of the vehicle before it is taken to the repair shop to ensure that Sjóvá guarantees payment for the repair costs.
Once the repair is complete, you will receive an invoice from us for your deductible. If your premiums are on an installment plan, the deductible will be spread in the same manner, and you do not need to take any action.

Please note that if the damage to the vehicle is so extensive that Sjóvá purchases the vehicle, the premium for the Comprehensive Collision Insurance must be settled, as the insurance is being fully utilized. Any remaining premium will be deducted from the purchase price of the vehicle, which may result in the amount deposited into your bank account being lower than the agreed-upon purchase price.
We will pay you 5,500 ISK for each day the vehicle is in repair. If you choose this option, please contact us at okutjon@sjova.is or at 440-2060 after you have retrieved the vehicle from repair. Once the repair is complete, we can calculate the amount and deposit it into your bank account accordingly.
Here you can find a list of car rental companies partnered with Sjóvá. You can contact one of these rental companies directly to book a car. In some cases, the workshop handling the repair can arrange a rental car for you. If the estimated repair time exceeds 7 days, Hertz offers an additional day free of charge if the rental car was originally booked through them. Sjóvá covers the cost of a rental car in category A. Before renting a car, we recommend reviewing the rental company’s terms, such as age limits and credit card requirements.
