Accident Insurance provides compensation for the consequences of accidents.

You can choose the benefit components that suit you and your situation when you apply for the insurance.

The available benefits include:

• Accidental Death Benefit: If an accident results in death within one year of the accident date, the beneficiaries you have designated will receive tax-free death benefits. However, we recommend purchasing Life Insurance for this purpose.
• Disability Benefit due to Accident: If you are injured in an accident and do not make a full recovery, you will receive a disability benefit. You choose the insured amount, and the degree of medical disability determines the percentage paid to you. For example, if your disability is assessed at 50%, you will receive half of the insured amount in a lump sum. This benefit is tax-free.
• Daily Allowance due to Accident: An accident can cause temporary incapacity to work. Daily allowances are payments made in such cases. Payments begin after the agreed waiting period has passed and continue as long as the incapacity lasts, but no longer than the agreed benefit period stated in the insurance certificate. Daily allowances are subject to income tax.
• Disability Benefit due to Illness: If illness causes permanent medical disability of 25% or more, you will receive a disability benefit. Otherwise, the same rules apply as for disability benefits due to an accident.
• Daily Allowance due to Illness: If you are temporarily unable to work due to illness, you will receive daily allowances. The incapacity must reach at least 50%, and the payments are proportional to the degree of incapacity. Otherwise, the same conditions apply as for daily allowances due to an accident.

You can include activities such as competitive sports, motor and combat sports, mountain and rock climbing, rappelling, scuba diving, hang gliding and paragliding, skydiving, and other similar and related sports. An additional premium is charged for this extra coverage.

Several factors influence the premium you pay for the insurance, such as the following:

• The compensation amount you choose in the event of a claim has a significant impact—the higher the benefits, the higher the premium.
• The length of the waiting period before daily allowances begin and the duration of the daily allowance period also affect the price.
• If you engage in higher-risk occupations and purchase accident insurance that covers working hours, you will pay more than those with lower-risk jobs.
• If you include competitive sports or specific high-risk leisure activities, the premium for the accident insurance will increase.

The purpose of accident insurance benefits is to compensate for income loss, whether short-term or long-term. Therefore, the benefits should be based on your salary.

It is common for people to choose daily allowances equivalent to 75% of their monthly salary, and for disability benefits to be about three to five times their annual salary.

The waiting period is the time that passes from the accident until daily allowance payments begin. You choose how long you want the waiting period to be, considering other entitlements, such as sick leave rights and sick fund daily allowances. It is common for the waiting period to be around 4 to 12 weeks.

The benefit period is the maximum length of time you can receive daily allowances. You also select the duration based on your other entitlements. It is common for people to choose a benefit period between 1 and 3 years, with a maximum of 5 years.
